Sunday 10.30am The Spire URC building  Sunday Service with Explorers Sunday School
Holy Communion monthly
Friday 11.30am The Spire URC building – Held in the Cafe Pause for Thought

What are our services like?

Everyone is welcome at our services. We meet at 10:30am on Sundays, and the service lasts about an hour. Tea, Coffee, Squash are available after the service.

We like our services to be a relaxed traditional style while still seeking to be dignified and inspirational.  We have a variety of preachers leading our services as we share them with many churches in the local area. Each person brings different styles and perspectives.

We sing a mixture of older and newer hymns, accompanied by an organ, piano or an instrumental group. In services, we explore God’s word in the Bible, what it means in its context to society today and how we might apply that to modern living, and offer our prayers to God.

Holy Communion is celebrated monthly. This is sharing bread and wine together, this helps us to remember the Last Supper, which Jesus shared with His disciples, and we celebrate His risen presence with us. Participating in Holy Communion is totally up to you and is fine either way. We use non-alcoholic wine and gluten-free, wheat-free, nut-free and dairy-free bread.

At our 10.30 am service we worship together for about 15-20 minutes, and then children and young people continue their service in our Explorers group if they want to, while everyone else continues the service in the main church. Our Children’s and Family Worker, Helen, runs our Sunday School Explorer group. A small play area is available for babies and toddlers throughout the service.

Choir
The church has a small but well established four part choir that sings at every Sunday service throughout the year. New members are always welcome.
