Everyone is welcome to come along to worship. We meet at 10:30am each Sunday, and the service lasts about an hour. For all who wish, there is the chance to chat over a hot drink and biscuits afterwards.

Our services tend towards a relaxed traditional style.  We try to avoid excessive formality and pomp, but still seeking to be dignified and inspirational.  We have a variety of preachers leading worship, and each brings different styles and perspectives.

We read from the Bible, sing a mixture of older and newer hymns, accompanied by an organ, piano or an instrumental group. In services, we explore God’s word in the Bible, what it means in its context and how we might apply that today, and offer our prayers to God.

Holy Communion is celebrated monthly. Through sharing bread and wine together, we remember the Last Supper Jesus shared with His disciples, and we celebrate His risen presence with us. You do not have to be a member to participate in Holy Communion, but, equally, no pressure is placed upon anyone to receive. Non-alcoholic wine is used; gluten-free and wheat-free wafers are available for those with allergies.

At our 10.30 am service we worship together for about 15-20 minutes, and then children and young people continue their worship in our Explorers group, while everyone else continues their worship in church. A crèche is available for babies and toddlers.  In the Methodist Church building, there is also an activity table available in the back right-hand corner of the church.

Our Children’s and Family Worker is with us each 3rd Sunday of the month when she is engaged in supporting the children’s activities.

All-age worship occurs three or four times a year. On these occasions, the whole of worship is pitched at a level that is accessible to people of all ages, when short, interactive messages are used instead of a sermon. The Girls’ Brigade join us as a group on these Sundays.

At our 6.30 pm service a smaller congregation gathers, for a service lasting about 45 minutes, with more time for quiet and reflection.

You can read some of our sermons to get a flavour of what we’re about.
