The Spire Café  is a local independent café, with a warm welcome for everyone. You do not need to book a table, but if you would like to reserve one for peace of mind, please call us on: 01252 724109.

We are open in the URC building from:

10am – 2pm (Monday to Friday)
10am – 12 noon on Saturdays

We serve morning coffee / teas etc., light bites (scones, toasted teacakes, etc.) and a selection of delicious home-baked cakes and biscuits.

From 12 noon – 2pm (Monday to Friday only) light lunches are available which include a variety of soups with a roll; jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings; eggs on toast; and plain or toasted sandwiches.  We also have a daily “Specials Board” and a variety of desserts.

There is a special children’s menu.  High chairs and changing facilities are available.

We are strong supporters of FairTrade, and serve FairTrade tea and coffee.

There is a small selection of FairTrade greetings cards and second-hand books at very reasonable prices.

We have many happy and satisfied regular customers, but we are always pleased to meet new ones.  If you fancy joining our team of volunteers, pop in and see us.

Do come and visit us at our unique little café with a heart!

The Spire Café is pleased to win the 2020 URC Community Awards, supported by Congregational Insurance and Reform magazine.

Andy Jackson, Head of Communications for the URC said, “The quality and standard of this year’s entries were again, as in previous years, exceptionally high, which made judging them very difficult.  The judges were deeply impressed with what your project has achieved for your local community, the way in which you have organised it and the resources used.”
